5 Things That Should Be On Your Letterhead

A letterhead is the heading at the top of a sheet letter paper (stationery) and is proof that whatever information printed on it comes from an official and authorized source in your company. In other words, it is a stationery that includes the organization’s name, address and other contact information and it’s important for branded messaging.

Depending on the sort of business you run be it sole trading, partnership or limited liability, there is a general list of requirements by law namely:

  • Name of your company
  • Location where company was registered
  • Company registration number
  • Registered address of the company
  • Address of any other company location

Business Type specific requirement

  • Sole Trader Business: For sole traders trading with their own name, the letterhead must include their personal name and complete business address.
  • Partnership Business: If it’s a partnership business, your letterhead must include the names of all your partners and the full address of the main office.
  • Limited Liability Company: Letterhead for a limited liability company must include the registered company name; registration number and place of registration plus company’s registered address and place of business.

Optionally, your letterhead can include your company’s telephone number, fax number, URL and email for contact.
